Strengthening Care: UK Midwives’ Journey in Sierra Leone

Meet the incredible trio of midwives, Sam, Jayney, and Eliza, who went on an educational mission to Sierra Leone generously funded by WCVA and supported by the Welsh Government and LFAM.

In Kenema and Freetown, Sierra Leone, our Welsh midwives dedicated their time and expertise to conduct skills-sharing workshops with local midwives. The local midwives have welcomed the visits and skills, and our UK midwives always embrace the challenge of working in resource-poor environments. This remarkable collaboration not only improves maternal care in Sierra Leone but also brings valuable insights back to the UK, demonstrating the enduring dedication of midwives to enhancing the well-being of women worldwide.
