row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and next 4 (5) chs, DC ch 1 DC in next st, DC in next 5 (6) chs, DC ch 1 halfDC in next st, Halfdc in next 3 chs, sc in next 4 (6) chs, halfdc in next 3 chs, HalfDC ch1 DC in next st, DC in next 5 (6) chs, DC ch1 DC in next ch, DC in last 5 (6) chs.
rows 2-7 (8): ch 2 turn, DC in each DC, putting DC ch1 DC in each ch1 space. (At end of 8, join)
row 8 (9): Ch 1 (2) turn (no turn if larger size) sc (Dc) across to first ch1 sp, sc (dc) in space, (3 ch) skip to next sp, sc (dc) in space and each dc across to next sp, sc (dc) in sp, (3 ch) skip to next sp, sc (dc) in sp and each st across to end, join (Armholes made.)
row 9 (10): ch 2, dc in each st to underarm, put 2dc in each of 2 underarm sts (the scs that are in the ch2 spaces) and dc in each of the 3 ch between them. dc across, repeat for second underarm, dc to end. Join.
rows 10 (11) – 12 (15): ch 2, dc around, join. If you wish, fasten off and change colour.
Rows 13 (16) -19 (21): ch 2, DC round. Join.
Row 19 (22): ch 2, dc in next 13 (15) 2dctog, Dc in next 27, 2dctog, dc to end, join.
Row 20 (23): ch 2, dc in next 13 (14), 2dctog, Dc in next 25 (26), 2dctog, dc to end,
Row 21 (24 & 25) ch 2, dc round, join.
rows 22 (26) – 23 (27): ch 1, sc (halfdc) around. (join).

Back tab: Row 1: at end of row 23 (29) join, slip stitch across next 5 sts. Ch2 turn, DC back across 9 (11) sts. Total 10 (12) dc
rows 2-4 (5): ch2 turn, dc across.
row 5 (6): ch 1 turn, sc across. finish off.
Front tab:
with back facing you, count 22 sts around row 23, join yarn in 23rd st. Ch 2, DC in next 9 (11) sts. Total 10 (12) dc. This is row 1.
rows 2-4 : ch 2, turn, dc across.

row 5 (6): ch 1, turn, sc in first dc (,sc) ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in next 4 sts, ch2, skip 2 sts, 2 sc (button holes made).
row 6 (7): 1 ch, 1 (2) sc, 2 sc in 2 chain space, 4 sc, 2 sc in 2 ch space, 2 sc. finish off.
Sew 2 medium size buttons to back tab opposite the buttonholes.
Back and Neck trim: with contrast colour, join yarn to bottom left back, ch1, sc up left side, sc ch sc in corner, sc around neckline, sc ch sc in corner, sc in first st. ch 3, sc in same st (buttonhole) sc down right side. Finish off.
Sew small button at top left back at neckline opposite chain buttonhole.
Optional Armhole trim: with contrast colour, 2 sc in each dc all the way around.
Decorate if you wish!
