G/4.00 mm hookUse soft DK yarn – if doing this for LFAM bright colours are best.

1) with colour 1 ch 52. sc in second ch from hook an in each ch across. 51 sts

2) ch 3. turn. dc in each of next 2 sts. * 2dc in next st. dc in each of next 3 sts. repeat from * 11 times. dc in each remaining sts to the end. 63 sts (fasten off colour 1)

3) join Colour 2 ch 3. turn. dc in each of the next 3 sts. * 2dc in the next st. dc in each of the next 4 sts repeat from * 11 times. dc in each remaining st. dc on top of ch 3. 75 sts (fasten off colour 2)

4) join colour 3 ch 3. turn. dc in each of the next 3 sts. * 2 dc in the next st.dc in each of the next 4 sts. repeat from * 13 times. dc in each of the remaining sts, dc on top of ch 3. Join with slip stitch. 89 sts. (Fasten off colour 3)

5) join colour 4, ch 3. dc, ch, 2 dc in the same st. * skip next st. shell (2dc ch 2 2dc) in next st. repeat from * to end join with slip stitch.

6) rejoin colour 1 ch 3 dc, ch, 2 dc in the same st. shell in next 6 shells. ch 3. skip next 10 shells. shell in next 11 shells. ch 3. skip next 10 shells. shells in next shells to end, join.

7) ch 3 dc, ch, 2 dc in same st. shell in next 6 shells. dc in each of next 3 ch. shell in next 11 shells. dc in each of 3 ch, shell in next shells to end, join with slip stitch.

8) ch 3. dc, ch, 2 dc in same st. shell in next 6 shells. skip first dc of underarm and shell in next dc. shell in next 11 shells. skip first dc of underarm and shell in next dc. shell in next shells to end. Join with slip stitch.

9) ch 3. dc, ch, 2 dc in same st. shell in each shell to end. Join

10-16) repeat row 9. At end of row 16 fasten off colour 1.

17) join colour 2, repeat row 9 fasten off colour 2.
18) join colour 3 and repeat row 9, fasten off colour 3.

19) join colour 4 and repeat row 9. Fasten off colour 4.

20) Join colour 1 in space between shells ch 3. 4 dc in same st. sc in shell.* 5dc in space between shells. sc in shells. repeat from * to the end. sc in space after last shell. Join and fasten off.

21) join colour 4 in sc of row 20, ch 1, sc insane stitch. Sc in each dc, ch 3 slip stitch in first chain (picot), * sc in sc between shells, sc in each dc, picot repeat from * to end, join and fasten off.

Using colour 4 sc around the neckline and opening. At one side of top of opening sc, chain 4, sc to form a button hole and attach a suitable button (or crochet one) to use as neck fastening. Alternatively you can crochet two ribbons from chains to attach either side as a bow fastening.

Add other decoration if you wish. Opening can be at front or back!
